On Saturday, July 11, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints partnered with the Sapporo Federation of Single Mothers and Widows Welfare Associations to hold food pantry events at two locations in Sapporo, providing food assistance to 103 single-parent households.

The food pantry initiative was conducted as part of the Church's humanitarian assistance program.
Each year, the Church provides funds to support humanitarian projects around the world. In addition to emergency relief during disasters, the Church carries out a variety of assistance efforts based on local community needs. In Hokkaido, previous projects have included donations of wheelchairs and nursing care beds to senior care and nursing facilities.

This food pantry project was organized in partnership with a local community organization to ensure that assistance reached those who needed it most. Through the organization, food was distributed directly to individuals and families in need.
By working together with organizations and businesses that share a desire to support their communities, humanitarian service is creating meaningful connections and fostering lasting relationships.
